, known for her iconic white outfits and insightful interviews, reflected on one of her most memorable and talked-about conversations with the legendary film actor Rekha. In the interview, which took place decades ago, Simi boldly broached the subject of Rekha's rumoured affection for Amitabh Bachchan.
Simi Garewal, renowned for her candid and engaging style of interviewing, remembered this particular interview as something that was "easy" to do.

She likened it to another fearless question she had posed to the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Jayalalithaa, asking about her feelings towards MGR.
In her 2015 interview with The Indian Express, Simi explained that she approached her conversations with a natural and friendly demeanour, which seemed to encourage her guests to open up.

During the interview, Simi asked Rekha if she had ever been in love with Amitabh Bachchan, to which Rekha responded by saying, "Absolutely." She elaborated that it was quite natural for anyone to fall completely, passionately, and hopelessly in love with the charismatic actor, and she was no exception. However, Rekha clarified that there was never a personal relationship between them, dispelling rumours and controversies that had swirled around their on-screen chemistry.

The interview and the subsequent candid confession by Rekha came at a time when the alleged affair between Rekha and Amitabh Bachchan had created significant media buzz. Their pairing in the movie "Silsila" by Yash Chopra only added to the intrigue, making it one of the most discussed love triangles in Bollywood.
Simi Garewal acknowledged that, due to the controversies and the married status of Amitabh Bachchan, it was unlikely for them to collaborate again onscreen. Nevertheless, she appreciated their on-screen chemistry and the undeniable charisma they brought to their roles.
