Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber have unfollowed each other on Instagram, reigniting speculation about a rift between the two women. Once seen as supportive of each other, despite years of fan-fuelled tension stemming from their shared history with Justin Bieber, the two appear to be at it again, or so it seems.The social media move was first reported by X account @BuzzingPop on Thursday, June 19, and comes amid growing rumours of trouble in Hailey and Justin's marriage. Over the past months, the couple has been hounded by divorce rumours, which Hailey has repeatedly denied.

Gomez dated Justin on-and-off from 2011 to 2018. The same year they split for good, Bieber married Hailey Baldwin in a whirlwind romance that sparked widespread media attention and fan theories about a possible 'cheating' angle at play. This comes after Selena and Hailey made efforts to show mutual respect towards each other on a personal and professional front. In 2022, they posed together at a public event in a photo that quickly went viral.

Selena even asked her fans to stop sending hate toward Hailey, after which, in 2023, both stars followed each other on Instagram and began subtly engaging with one another’s content. In December, Hailey liked Selena’s post announcing her engagement to music producer Benny Blanco.

In return, Selena liked a post by a makeup outlet, celebrating Hailey’s beauty line being stocked in its stores.However, as it seems, tensions resurfaced in recent weeks when Hailey’s beauty brand was acquired by E.l.f. Cosmetics in a $1 billion deal. Just one day after the news broke, Rare Beauty posted two images of Selena on Instagram with the caption “Still here.” Many interpreted the post as a subtle diss aimed at Hailey's brand sale.
