Suchitra Krishnamoorthi faces backlash for claiming Air India crash survivor was ‘LYING’; Deletes post and issues apology

Actor and singer Suchitra Krishnamoorthi stirred quite the controversy this week after she claimed that Vishwas Kumar Ramesh, the sole survivor of the tragic Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad was 'lying' about his ordeal.

Amidst mounting criticism of her harsh tweet questioning the authenticity and the mental stability of the lone survivor, she deleted the post and has now issued a public apology. In a new post on her handle, she wrote, “Took out my last tweet on the Air India crash survivor. Seems to be false news circulated for God knows what reason. My apologies.”The apology comes just days after Krishnamoorthi, in a now-deleted post on her X (Twitter) handle, accused Ramesh of fabricating his story about surviving the crash.

She went on to say that the man "Deserve (sic) not only some serious punishment but some mental asylum time if this is true."However, she soon faced public backlash with netizens calling out her allegations as baseless social media rumours. Defending the sole survivor of the crash, netizens pointed out that Vishwas’s identity and survival had been officially verified by the Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad.Despite the apology, many took to the comments section to raise concern over the spread of misinformation and the duty of public figures to weigh their words on social media, particularly in the wake of national tragedies.

According to the latest reports, Vishwas was discharged from the hospital just days ago, a week after surviving the June 12 crash that claimed the lives of at least 260 people. His brother Ajay, who was also on the flight, tragically did not survive. Upon his discharge, he was seen performing his brother’s last rite rituals earlier this week.
