Karan Johar on patching up with Kartik Aaryan

Filmmaker Karan Johar has finally broken his silence on the much-speculated fallout with Kartik Aaryan in 2021. Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Karan reflected on their patch-up, calling it a mature and professional decision to move forward. The duo is now collaborating on Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri, a romantic comedy under Dharma Productions, directed by Sameer Vidwans.Karan Johar praises Kartik AaryanPraising Kartik’s growth and professionalism, Karan said, “Kartik is an immensely hardworking actor and a very connective big star today who has a wide audience space. He has a great instinct on screenplay.” He further added, “I think we internally discussed it, worked it out and let bygones be bygones… He and I met, collaborated and decided to come together — it was all lovely.”‘In a family, gile-shikwe ho jaate hain’Karan compared the film industry to a close-knit family where differences are inevitable but not irreparable.

“It’s a tiny industry, which I call a family. I believe that in a family, kabhi kabhi gile shikwe ho jaate hain (sometimes complaints and misunderstandings happen),” he said, adding, “Good people want to make good films, create good content and, as I said, we don’t sweat the small stuff — we have a larger vision to look at.

”

A new beginning after Dostana 2 falloutKartik Aaryan was initially cast in Dostana 2 alongside Janhvi Kapoor, but the project hit a roadblock during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dharma Productions later recast the film, confirming Kartik’s exit.

Rumours of a fallout between the actor and the producer soon followed.However, the two have since reconciled, and their upcoming project Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri, also starring Ananya Panday, is set for a theatrical release on February 13, 2026.In addition to the romantic comedy, Kartik Aaryan has also signed another major film with Dharma Productions — Naagzilla, a fantasy-adventure scheduled to release on August 14, 2026.
