Did swallowing a bee lead to Sunjay's death?

Karisma Kapoor's ex-husband Sunjay Kapur passed away on Monday and the reason for his death was said to be a heart-attack. His company Sina Comstar said in a statement, "It is with profound sorrow that we announce the untimely passing of Sunjay J Kapur Chairman and Non-Executive Director of Sona Comstar, following a sudden heart attack in England, UK, on 12th June 2025, at the age of 53.

"Sunjay was in UK for a Polo tournament. Meanwhile, now Suhel Seth was quoted by ANI saying, "Sunjay died of a heart attack, apparently after swallowing a bee during a polo match in England." However his company did not divulge these details and only said it was a heart-attack.As soon as this news broke, one saw Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Malaika Arora and Amrita Arora reach Karisma Kapoor's house. For those not in the know, Sunjay was married to designer Nandita Mahtani in 1996 and the marriage lasted for four years.

He then got married to Karisma Kapoor in 2003. They have two children, Samaira and Kiaan. Karisma and Sunjay got divorced in 2014. Later in 2017, he married Priya Sachdev. They have a son named Azarias.Karisma and Sunjay had parted ways mutually and just a while ago, they were spotted together which is rare. They were having dinner with their children in Mumbai. They continued to co-parent their children after the separation.

Meanwhile, Shalini Passi and her husband Sanjay Passi were close friends of Sunjay Kapoor. Shalini reacted to his untimely desmise and expressed grief. She said in an interview with Hindustan Times, "The news of Sunjay’s death is sad and shocking. It makes us realise the frivolity of our life and everything that we take so seriously... In a moment everything is gone."
