Neena Gupta is known for her movies like 'Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron' and iconic roles on television shows like 'Saans'. There was a low phase in her career where didn't have much work and Gupta had no qualms about even going and asking for work. She had dropped a video asking for work on social media and that led to her becoming a huge inspiration. But post 'Badhaai Do', Neena has been flooded with work, and is seen in some interesting roles back-to-back.
But did you know, she got stereotyped after she did a film called '
' in 1982? As per Indian Express, Neena had once confessed in an interview that she got typecast after that film.
It was a comedy role andGirish Karnad had told her that she won't get lead heroine roles after that. He added that because you're a woman, once you do comedy then you're finished. Then people don't imagine you in a romantic role. And that's what happened! Neena never got a lead romantic heroine role and kept getting similar kind of roles where she had to wear the same clothes, spectacles and all.
'Saath Saath' starred
in lead roles. The film is remembered for iconic Jagjit Singh song, 'Tum Ko Dekha Toh Yeh Khayal Aaya'. Earlier, Neena had said that she was under the impression that she would get a lot of work once she comes to Mumbai. However, soon her perceptions broke and she understood this business better.
Neena was last seen in 'Charlie Chopra' on OTT apart from a segment in 'Lust Stories 2'. She has just wrapped up another season of 'Panchayat' on OTT.
