Donald Trump announces 100% tariffs on the films produced outside America for a list of concerns - Here's what he said

President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, announced 100% tariffs on all foreign-produced films coming to the lands of America, due to concerns about propaganda, security threats, messaging and the incentives of Hollywood filmmakers getting away from the United States of America.

Official Announcement by Trump

In a Truth Social post made by Trump, he announced that he has authorised the departments to put the taxes on ‘any and all’ movies from outside the realm of the United States. He stated, “The Movie Industry in America is DYING a very fast death.” “Other Countries are offering all sorts of incentives to draw our filmmakers and studios away from the United States. Hollywood, and many other areas within the U.S.A., are being devastated,” he continued.
“This is a concerted effort by other Nations and, therefore, a National Security threat. It is, in addition to everything else, messaging and propaganda! Therefore, I am authorizing the

, and the United States Trade Representative, to immediately begin the process of instituting a 100% Tariff on any and all Movies coming into our Country that are produced in Foreign Lands,” he added. Trump concluded the announcement by stating, “WE WANT MOVIES MADE IN AMERICA, AGAIN!”

Will the production houses suffer?

A month after China restricted imports of Hollywood films, Trump’s decision has sent a massive shockwave by imposing taxes on the entertainment industry. With the declining ticket sales and the post-pandemic effect of the audience preferring streaming options, the major production houses may suffer a setback if the tariffs backfire. Many bigshot production houses shoot the films in a foreign land to benefit from the taxes, according to CNN’s report.
However, with the renewed policies, the films may have 100% tariffs if they are produced outside the American boundaries.
