Konkona Sensharma is gearing up for her role in 'Metro In Dino', a follow-up to the 2007 film 'Life In A Metro', where she shared the screen with the late Irrfan Khan. Having collaborated with him on several projects, Konkona recently opened up about her memories of working with Irrfan and revealed some lesser-known insights about the actor during a recent interview.Accepting Roles Because of IrrfanTalking to Mashable India, the actress shared that she sometimes accepted film roles simply because Irrfan Khan was involved. She also reflected on how their collaborations included a few unexpected and unconventional projects.Early Career and Random Films TogetherThe actress explained that in the early 2000s, when the film industry was gradually recognizing Irrfan, she and he ended up doing many random films together.
Often, someone would approach her with a project and mention that Irrfan was involved, leading her to believe that if he was part of it, the film must be decent and there would be something good in it. However, when they met on set, they realized things were not unfolding as expected, and she would tell him that since he had said yes, she had agreed as well.
Irrfan would respond that he hadn’t really known what he was getting into and had just said yes casually.
Despite this, they always enjoyed the experience.Fun and Improvisation on the Set of 'Life In A Metro'She shared that shooting 'Life In A Metro' with Irrfan was a lot of fun. She mentioned that Irrfan had a unique ability to absorb and incorporate the real surroundings into his performance. During one scene, when something accidentally fell, Irrfan responded by dropping something himself, and then Konkona did the same, turning it into a playful exchange that director Anurag really enjoyed.
When they had to recreate the shot due to an issue, they repeated the spontaneous act of dropping objects.
She described the experience as natural, improvisational, and genuine, without anything feeling forced or staged.The Rooftop Shouting SceneKonkona added that even the rooftop scene where they were shouting wasn’t originally planned as an impromptu moment. They were waiting in their van when Anurag Basu, affectionately called Dada, called them over and instructed them to stand in a certain spot and perform the scene.
Despite strong winds, they shouted and completed the scene.
