Suniel Shetty offered clarity about his statementAmidst the growing criticism, Shetty offered further clarity during an interview with Moneycontrol. The Hera Pheri actor insisted that his statement had been misunderstood.
“It has been completely blown out of proportion. Just tell me, if someone goes through surgery, wouldn’t I know the outcome? It was a 200-word or more interview in which I discussed the importance of a young father or man-to-be witnessing his wife’s delivery.
That’s what elevates his wife to a pedestal—not only love, but respect for the rest of his life. That’s why maa ko devi ka darja diya jata hai—that’s all I had said,” he explained. He also took issue with the selective way his words were shared and interpreted online. He further clarified that, due to people misinterpreting the words of performers and artists, they usually avoid making statements on sensitive or specialist topics.Suniel's open apology Suniel extended an open apology to those who felt hurt by the episode. “So, to all individuals who were offended—even if I did not make a mistake—I will sincerely apologise to all the ladies out there because I honestly appreciate and revere them,” he shared, adding that it was not just about someone taking two lines from the interview and misrepresenting them, but because he genuinely respects the effort a woman puts in to give birth.“My statements were never meant to downplay or question the medical need or emotional strength involved in a C-section. Every birth is courageous,” he said.Athiya Shetty and cricketer KL Rahul welcomed their daughter, Evaarah, on March 24.
On the work front, Suniel Shetty is preparing for the release of his upcoming film 'Kesari Veer', directed by Prince Dhiman. It will hit theatres on May 23.
