Karan Johar hosted brothers Sunny and Bobby Deol on Thursday this week and the conversation was a far cry from the barrage of romance and kisses of the first episode that featured Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone. Sunny cleaned up his Tara Singh act so well, appearing sharp in a beige suit and tinted glasses, while Bobby exuded charm in a signature Versace shirt.
The host went on a long drawn praise trip for Sunny Deol for his 500 crore hit 'Gadar 2' and the actor took in all the love with modesty, confessing to the point that he didn’t know if anyone would turn up for his success bash! Dharmendra’s kiss (from Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani) was addressed and waved off with ‘he gets away with anything’ and much to KJo’s (Viewers too) disappointment, no tea was spilled over mentions of Esha and Ahana.
While we thought nothing could trump Ranveer and Deepika’s UNSEEN wedding video, Deol men spruced up a surprise! From Karan revealing Sunny’s fetish for teddy bears to Aryaman talking about his bonding with Tayaji Sunny and Dharmendra referring to Bobby as ‘chalu’... this confessional clip made the macho men wipe tears of emotions. Bobby came with a ‘no holds barred’ attitude and big brownie points to him for pulling a fast one on Karan Johar for not casting him when he reached out for work. He aptly tagged the industry for ‘using’ people and Karan Johar couldn’t help but agree. Once again, KJo sought validation on the nepotism debate and Bobby swiftly made an example out of his struggles. Comments on paid PR to deets on Sunny Deol’s box office tussle with Akshay Kumar… KJo did try to dig for the masala but the Deols never let their guard down.
The rapid fire was equally candid but devoid of juicy details as KJo wanted to streer clear of any controversy. Bobby seemed in awe of his brother all through the episode… a brotherly affection that we thoroughly enjoyed.
Karan Johar has always spoiled his audience with a strong brew of gossip during these Koffee sessions and the Deol brothers were lucid in their ways, having little to offer. The second episode was as straight as a die… it has to be watched for the love of the Deols!
