'. The audience and the industry alike, cannot stop praising Kiran as a filmmaker. While she's slowly carved a niche for herself now through her talent and unique voice as a director, Kiran admitted in an interview recently that earlier she was in the media glare only for being
Aamir Khan
's wife.
Kiran said that it took a while for her to get used to this idea and she was really scared of losing her identity. The director said in an interview with Hindustan Times, "Beyond a point, as an artist, you get accustomed to the idea that whatever you do will provoke people. In some ways, that’s your job...You need to create a space for that and step away from it a little bit. I’ve learned to do that because I came from a very regular family and suddenly, I was in this media glare. But I knew the media was interested in me only through the lens of being Aamir Khan’s wife. They did not know me. It was difficult in the beginning because I felt like I was losing my identity."
Aamir and Kiran and now separated. However, it doesn't bother her anymore that many people know her because of Aamir. She said in another inreview that now it doesn't bother her because she does have her own life, her own friends. Rao reflected on the fact that in any marriage, it's really important to have one's own space and identity.
Kiran has now said that she won't take so many years to make another film and will keep finding scripts to direct more often!
