The film was screened in the prestigious Un Certain Regard section.

Homebound follows the story of two childhood friends from a North Indian village whose bond is tested as they chase their dreams of becoming police officers. The film’s executive producer is Martin Scorsese, with Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra producing, and Marijke de Souza and Melita Toscan Du Plantier co-producing. It received a 9-minute standing ovation at its premiere on Wednesday.
