Lessons from Harry Potter series
Every year on May 2, the world celebrates International Harry Potter Day, a day dedicated to Potterheads around the world and their love for the series. From Hermione’s wit, to Dobby’s loyalty, here we mention 10 lessons that each book gave us.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone
The first book in the series, one that received over 10 rejections but went on to become one of the most iconic children’s books, is this one. And the first book taught people that you cannot succeed through magic alone, but also need trust, teamwork, and loyalty.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
Another amazing book, the second part of the series taught people that our choices matter more than our background. Even when Harry doubts himself, Dumbledore reminds him it’s what he chooses that defines him, not what his past was.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
One of the most beautiful and moving books of the series, this one gave people a lesson in trust. With Sirius Black’s character, who was thought to be a killer, but was actually innocent, people learnt that we need every side of the story to judge someone.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
‘Goblet of Fire’ taught people that doing the right thing is not always the easy thing. Harry tells everyone the truth about Voldemort being alive, even when the whole world doubts him, and leaves his integrity in question.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
You need to speak up at the right time, or it will be too late. In ‘Order of the Phoenix’ we see Dumbledore’s army coming together, even when most people doubt Harry, and we learn the importance of putting your trust over someone.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
Usually read in two parts, the end of the series is the most emotional and inspiring one. We see Neville taking a stand, Ron and Hermione fighting against odds, Molly Weasley showing the strength of a mother, and so much more. We see strength, bravery, and love, all in one.

The Cursed Child
Usually thought of as a part of the Harry Potter series, ‘The Cursed Child’ is actually a play written by Jack Thorne and John Tiffany. But even this play taught people that it is important to rise above your parents’ shadows and be your own person.

A lesson on grieving
With each book and year, we lost someone we held dear. Be it Sirius Black, Dobby, Fred Weasley, or others. And it gave people the lesson that grief and healing are messy, and it is important to experience real pain.

The brilliance in books
Another lesson we learnt was the importance of reading books! How? Well, if Hermione had not been a bookworm, the trio would not know so much about chants and spells. From ‘Alohomora’ to ‘Occulus Repairo’, Hermoine taught something to all of us.
