5 faces of Panchmukhi Hanuman and their attributes

One of the most famous legends of Panchmukhi Hanuman roop is about the time when AhiRavan, Ravan’s brother, abducted Lord Ram and Lakshman, and was about to kill them. Ahiravan was the King of the Underworld and a great sorcerer. And so, using his magical powers, Ahiravan abducted them and took them to Patallok, intending to sacrifice them. When Lord Hanuman learned about this, he rushed to save Lord Ram and Lakshman, and he saw that they were both unconscious owing to Ahiravan’s magic. And to defeat Ahiravan, Lord Hanuman had to, all at once, extinguish the 5 lamps in which Ahiravan’s life force was. So Lord Hanuman took on the Panchmukhi avatar, and blew on the 5 lamps all at once, thereby defeating Ahiravan.
