India vs Bangladesh Live Score: Ashwin speaks
"(4 Tests in Chennai - his most memorable) The game against England was a game played after the Covid break, the first time the crowd was back. I didn't expect that kind of a reception. For that game to turn out the way it turned out for me was quite special. It's always been an incredible ground for me, great memories, very old memories as well. Excitement and ambition always remain the same when I take the field. Cricket is a game that I totally adore. I have enjoyed every single moment that I have been on the field. Age is a number but the kind of work you stack up over a period of time to get out there in the park and have the best energy levels to be able to persevere and keep going ... definitely takes a toll over a period of time. You need to work harder to get that little bit of an advantage. All the Test matches that we have played here barring the one where it was kind of low-scoring against England, generally the batsmen have got huge runs. The game against Australia was literally a 500 play 500 sort of a wicket. It's always been a good Test match pitch. We are gonna be playing on a red soil pitch again. There'll be a lot of bounce, there's going to be value for bowlers as well. All facets of the game will be in play. Certainly they (Bangladesh) have put their hand up and said, 'look we are a team on the rise and we are playing wonderful cricket.' I watched some of those clips (vs Pakistan), it wasn't live in India, truly an exceptional result for the Bangladeshi cricket team. I am one of those guys who loves to see the underdog come out and perform. You can't call them an underdog anymore, they have played some wonderful cricket. They challenged us in Bangladesh when we were there the last time. Really looking forward to a good series." - Ravichandran Ashwin

India vs Bangladesh Live Score: Here's how the toss happened at Chepauk
We would have done the same. It's going to be challenging conditions. We have prepared well. Looking at the 10 Test matches, every match is important. But we want to focus on what's in front of us. We had a good prep. Three seamers and two spinners - Bumrah, Akash Deep, Siraj, Ashwin and Jadeja.
India skipper Rohit Sharma
I'll like to bowl first. There's moisture and we want to make use of it. Pitch looks hard. The first session will be very good for the seamers. This is a new series. It's a good mixture of experience and youth. We go with three seamers.

IND vs BAN Test Live: Pitch Report!
"It's a day very unlike what we are used to in Chennai - very cool at the moment at 28 degrees, but as the day progresses, it promises to be 33-34 which will be like the Chennai we all know. As we speak about the pitch, it's a red soil pitch. And what does red soil mean - bounce, turn and as the game progresses, the big spinners come into play. They have left a little bit of residual moisture underneath the pitch. So the fast bowlers will have their say at the start." - Dinesh Karthik

It [victory over Pakistan] certainly gives us a lot of confidence coming into this series. Not because of the outcome of the series but the way we played that series... give us a lot of belief for this series.

IND vs BAN Test Match Scorecard: Bumrah & Siraj will be India's pace attack
Mohammed Shami will miss the series as he recovers from an ankle surgery but Bangladesh batters will still have to deal with the cunning and craft of India's pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah and the lively pace of Mohammed Siraj.
The series will literally be a different ball game altogether for Shanto and his men.
Used to playing with the Kookaburra ball, they will have to adjust to the SG variety with pronounced seam in India.

I have been big believer that we don't fear anyone but we respect everyone. I congratulate them for what they did in Pakistan but this is a new series and they are a quality side and we want to play good cricket. Jurel is a phenomenal player but when Pant is coming in, sometimes people have to wait.

IND vs BAN Test Live: India looking for a hat-trick of WTC final
India are hoping to make the WTC final for the third time in a row and are eyeing a strong start to their season, which also includes three home tests against New Zealand followed by five in Australia.
They have been reinforced by wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant's return to the side after a horrible crash in December 2022.
Dhruv Jurel, who impressed both behind and in front of the stumps in the home series against England earlier this year, will have to wait for his turn.
India vs Bangladesh Live Score: India face Bangladesh with an eye on WTC final
A series sweep against Bangladesh will cement India's place atop the World Test Championship (WTC) standings but the team under Rohit Sharma are guarding against any complacency in the two-match home series beginning in Chennai today.
Bangladesh, led by Najmul Hossain Shanto, are on a high after their memorable 2-0 series victory in Pakistan, a team they had never beaten before in a test match.
The task will be tougher against India, who have prevailed in 11 of the 13 previous encounters between the neighbours -- the other two were draws -- and have not lost a home test series since 2012.
