In a recent interview with
Lallantop
,
Swaroop
shared a humorous and nostalgic anecdote about how
Paresh
once cheekily took off with her hard-earned savings to settle his bar debts. Back in her days as a theatre actress, Swaroop would receive around Rs 100–Rs 200 as travel allowance for each performance. However, being the smart and resourceful person she is, Swaroop often travelled in her family car or found other ways to commute without spending the allowance. Slowly, over time, she managed to save a significant amount — Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000 — a hefty sum in those days.
Sharing the memory with a huge smile, Swaroop recalled how one evening, a young Paresh Rawal came home. Excited about her little treasure, she invited him to help count the money she had so carefully saved over the months. The two sat together, going through thick wads of notes, laughing and enjoying the moment.
But what happened next was something Swaroop still remembers with a laugh. After counting the money, Paresh casually put the entire amount into his pocket, thanked her, and walked out of the house — heading straight to clear his bar debts. Swaroop recounted the incident with warmth and laughter, calling it one of those unforgettable memories from their early years together.
Paresh and Swaroop dated for 12 years before tying the knot. Their bond, built on friendship, mischief, and mutual respect, remains strong to this day. In an earlier interview with
ETimes
, Paresh fondly referred to Swaroop as his “Dream Girl” and confessed he’s incredibly lucky to have married her.
