Bollywood has witnessed many love stories, but few are as touching and tragic as that of Divya Bharti and Sajid Nadiadwala. Their whirlwind romance, secret wedding, and the sudden loss of a rising star still leave fans heartbroken. One of the most surprising details of their love story.Love at first sightDivya met producer Sajid Nadiadwala while filming 'Shola Aur Shabnam' with Govinda. Sajid had come to visit Govinda on set, but it was Divya who caught his eye. As per reports, for Sajid, it was love at first sight. Their friendship grew stronger over time and soon turned into love. On 10 May 1992, they got married in a private ceremony. Divya was just 18 at the time. But despite this major step in her life, she chose to keep the wedding a secret, especially from her father, Om Prakash Bharti.Mother knew, Father didn’t

In a past interview with Bollywood Hungama, Divya’s mother, Meeta Bharti, shared how her daughter kept her wedding under wraps for months. “Sajid used to visit Govinda on the sets of Shola Aur Shabnam for his dates, and he was introduced to Divya. The very day, she asked me, ‘Mom, what do you think about Sajid?’ I said I found him nice. After some days, she asked me if she could marry Sajid. I told her she should ask her father. And her father was against it. He had his own notions, and opposed the idea. Once Divya turned 18, one day she called me to tell me that she was marrying Sajid the very day, and wanted me to sign as one of the witnesses. But I told her I would not be able to come unless she informed her father about it.”

Despite her mother’s warning, Divya went ahead with the wedding. But instead of moving in with Sajid, she continued living with her parents, meeting her husband occasionally. Her father had no clue about her secret marriage. The big revealA few months later, during the Diwali festival, Sajid visited Divya’s family home and revealed the truth to her father. Her mother further said, “After some months, during Diwali, Sajid came to meet us. Her father and Sajid were talking when Sajid told him that he and Divya had gotten married. Her father didn’t say a word. He stayed quiet. After Sajid left, he asked me why I didn’t tell him. I said I had told Divya to tell him herself. Then he didn’t say anything for two days. On the third day, he told me, ‘Let’s call Sajid home. I want to speak with him. Since they have gotten married, we should accept it and move on.’”Despite being upset at first, Divya’s father eventually accepted their marriage. Sadly, the couple didn’t get to enjoy married life for long.Tragedy strikesLess than a year after their wedding, on 5 April 1993, Divya Bharti died after falling from her apartment balcony. She was just 19. Her sudden death shocked all her fan. The loss devastated Sajid Nadiadwala. Even though their time together was short, Sajid remained close to Divya’s family.
