NEW DELHI: Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, two struggling players, still have the desire to succeed and will choose their Test futures with the team's best interests in mind, according to India head coach Gautam Gambhir.
Gambhir made his remarks on the two seniors following India's 1-3
Border-Gavaskar Trophy
series defeat.
Gautam Gambhir press conference: On Kohli, Rohit and dressing room
India were eliminated from the
World Test Championship
final by Australia, who won the fifth and final in Sydney on Sunday to recapture the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after a decade.
"They are tough people with hunger, they'll decide what is best for Indian cricket," said Gambhir at the post-match media interaction.
A protracted lean patch forced India captain
Rohit
to rest for the last Test. Kohli also had a difficult series and was caught in the slips up to eight times.
Additionally, if someone "had commitment towards red-ball cricket," Gambhir stated that he would like them to participate in the domestic circuit.
