Vikrant Massey reveals why he took a break from acting

In December 2024, Vikrant Massey took to Instagram to announce a break from acting, citing the need to focus on his personal life. Now, in a recent interview, the 12th Fail actor opened up about the emotional reason behind that decision, and clarified that he’s not retiring from the movies.“No, if at any point I feel like I need to take a break to become a better version of myself, then I will take that break,” Vikrant told Bollywood Bubble when asked if he planned to surprise fans again with a sudden exit post on social media. “The idea was always to better myself and, of course, to spend time with my family.”“I had a baby boy... and you know what’s heartbreaking?”Massey, who became a father to baby boy Vardaan in 2024, revealed that his demanding schedule had kept him away from home for long stretches.

“The last few years have been phenomenal, but I’ve been away from my family, shooting non-stop. I had a baby boy, and you know what’s heartbreaking?” he shared.“His memories of me are from videos. His first tooth came in, but I wasn’t there. He said ‘Papa’ for the first time in my absence. His first memory of me is through a video, which I’ve saved in a folder. I mean, that’s ridiculous, right?”

Break was a response to burnout, not retirementThe actor clarified that his decision to step away was misinterpreted by some as a retirement announcement.

In reality, it was a much-needed pause to address burnout, spend time with family, and reassess his journey as an artist.“If I feel the need to go back to the drawing board and better myself as an actor, I will,” he said. “Because of the blessings I’ve received, because of the privilege I have, I will go back, work on myself, and then come back.”During his time off, Massey took the opportunity to revisit his own performances, identify patterns, and figure out where he could grow.
