HYDERABAD: Two central universities from
Telangana
, the
University of Hyderabad
(UoH) and
Maulana Azad National Urdu University
(MANUU), have been granted '
graded autonomy
' by the
University Grants Commission
.
These universities are among the eight institutions nationwide to receive autonomy from the commission. While four out of the eight have been awarded Category I autonomy, the remaining have been granted Category II autonomy.
Both UoH and MANUU have been awarded Category II autonomy.
These institutions will now enjoy greater flexibility in academic, administrative, and financial matters, as granted under the University Grants Commission (Categorization of Universities (only) for Grant of Graded Autonomy) Regulations, 2018.
In a significant move towards fostering academic excellence and institutional empowerment, the autonomy granted to UoH and MANUU will enable them to further enhance their educational standards and contribute to the development of
higher education
in Telangana and beyond.
