The Directorate of Government Examinations (DGE), Tamil Nadu, officially declared the SSLC (Class 10) results for the academic year 2024–25 on May 16, 2025, at 9:00 AM. Over 8.71 lakh students appeared for the board exams held in March 2025, and a total of 8,17,261 students successfully cleared them—resulting in an impressive statewide pass percentage of 93.8%.
This year’s performance marked a notable improvement of 2.3 percentage points compared to the previous academic session.A total of 12,485 schools across Tamil Nadu participated in the SSLC exams, out of which 4,917 schools achieved a perfect 100% pass rate. Science emerged as the standout subject with the highest number of centums; 10,838 students scored full marks in the subject. Among districts, Sivagangai topped the performance charts with a stellar pass percentage of 98.31%.
The pass rate among differently abled candidates was also commendable at 92.8%, while among 237 prisoners who took the exam, 230 passed—registering a pass percentage of 97%.Girls have once again demonstrated academic dominance. The pass percentage among girl students stood at a remarkable 95.88%, significantly ahead of the 91.74% recorded among boys.

Although the number of boys and girls appearing for the exam was nearly equal, the difference in success rate is significant—girls outperformed boys by over 4 percentage points. This reflects stronger academic performance among girls in the state, continuing a trend seen in previous years of the TN SSLC exams.

Across all five key subjects, girls have recorded higher pass percentages, with the most pronounced gaps seen in Mathematics and English. In Mathematics, girls surpassed boys by over 2 percentage points (97.61% vs. 95.54%), challenging the common perception of male dominance in STEM subjects.
