Jake Tapper, co-author of a new book on Joe Biden, ripped into Hunter, the former US president's son, describing him as "sleazy" and "unethical," among other things.Tapper, who is also a lead anchor with CNN, made the remark during an interview with journalist Katie Couric on Tuesday.

He was joined by Axios' Alex Thompson, his co-author for "Original Sin.

""Hunter functioned similarly to a chief of staff for the Biden family. This is strange, given his history of moral failings and poor choices," Tapper told Couric on "Next Question With Katie Couric.""It’s bizarre because I think he is provably, demonstrably, unethical, sleazy and prone to horrible decisions," he added.

Couric followed up by asking Tapper how he "really feels" about Hunter Biden.

He then recounted one instance from Hunter’s past to illustrate his point."Just look at the record: after his brother (Beau Biden) died, he cheated on his wife with his brother’s widow and then got her addicted to crack. That’s just one thing I could say. I don’t have a lot of personal regard for him. I barely have ever met him. I’ve met him like once or twice," the "Lead With Jake Tapper" anchor said.Following Beau's 2015 demise, his widow, Hallie, and Hunter began dating the following year.

The relationship ended in 2019.Tapper, meanwhile, also contrasted the two brothers."I knew Beau. He was a great, upstanding guy. A real loss, for the country too — not just for his family, for the country. But Hunter is not that, and the idea of letting him drive the family car, as it were, is just really, really questionable," he stated. In September 2024, Hunter Biden, while his father was still the US president, was convicted on three felony tax offences and six misdemeanour tax offences. In December that year, on the first day of his last full month in office, Biden granted presidential pardon to Hunter, despite repeatedly denying he would do so.
