She also revealed her fondness for Aamir Khan, who would write her birthday letters annually.

In a nostalgic and candid chat on Koffee With Karan with her brother Abhishek Bachchan, Shweta opened up about her deep admiration for Salman Khan and Aamir Khan—sharing charming anecdotes from her school days that prove even star kids aren't immune to fan moments.When Maine Pyaar Kiya released in 1989, Shweta Bachchan was in tenth grade at a boarding school. She watched the film on a VCR and was so smitten that she asked Abhishek to get her the iconic ‘Friend’ cap worn by Salman Khan in the movie.Shweta recalled how strict rules at her boarding school didn’t stop her from indulging in her love for Maine Pyaar Kiya. Since movies weren’t allowed, she recorded the entire film on an audio cassette and would listen to it repeatedly.
She was so taken by Salman Khan’s character that she wanted his iconic ‘Friend’ cap. Abhishek Bachchan added that he carried several caps from Mumbai to London for her and their cousins.
Shweta even admitted to sleeping with the cap under her pillow.She was also a big fan of Aamir Khan. Abhishek revealed that Aamir, upon learning this, would thoughtfully write Shweta a letter every year on her birthday. Shweta added that the connection felt special because “we are both Pisceans”—with her birthday on March 17 and Aamir’s just a few days earlier on March 14.
Abhishek also shared that while they were studying in Boston, Shweta once insisted he hire a limousine and drive an hour and a half just so they could attend a live performance by Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan.Though Shweta has never pursued an acting career, she has appeared in a few commercials alongside her father, Amitabh Bachchan. She co-owns the fashion label MXS with designer Monisha Jaising and is also a published author, having released her debut novel Paradise Towers in 2018.
