Riya Ahlawat tops Rohtak with 99% in CBSE, plans to pursue civil services
ROHTAK: International badminton player Unnati Hooda from Rohtak has stunned many by scoring an impressive 93% in the CBSE Class 12 examinations, results for which were declared on Tuesday. Known for her packed schedule of national and international tournaments throughout the year, Unnati’s academic performance came as a pleasant surprise.Hailing from Chamaria village here, Unnati rose to fame after winning the Odisha Open, becoming the youngest Indian woman to clinch the prestigious title. Currently in Thailand for the Taipei Open 2025, the 17-year-old spoke to The Times of India, saying, "I was hopeful of scoring well, but getting 93% is indeed a special moment. I’ve also topped my school in the humanities stream."She added, "I carried my books throughout the year during my travel across the country and abroad.
I used every spare moment to catch up on my syllabus. For me, studies are as important as sports. My dream is to win a medal for India in the next Olympics—without compromising my academics. I believe both can go hand in hand."
In another notable achievement from the district, Riya Ahlawat of Aryan Global School here has topped Rohtak with a stellar 99% score. Speaking to TOI, Riya said, "I focused on making handwritten notes for every chapter and maintained a balance between studies and other activities. I expected around 98% like I scored in Class 10, but getting 99% feels overwhelming."Riya now aims to secure admission to Delhi University after her CUET exam and has set her sights on preparing for the civil services post graduation.
