Earlier in the day, designer Sabyasachi had fuelled the fire, teasing Khan’s look with a cryptic Insta story: “Khan Khan Bengal Tiger.”

Titled “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style”, the exhibition is inspired by Monica L. Miller’s groundbreaking book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity.

The 2025 dress code? “Tailored for You” an ode to bespoke fashion and the cultural richness of Black menswear through the ages. It’s also the first time in over two decades that the Met Gala has placed menswear centre stage.
The Costume Institute’s exhibition presents a powerful exploration of Black fashion history, from the 18th century to today, through the refined, rebellious lens of dandyism.

As Gala committee member Usher said, “This theme is not only timely, it’s a celebration of culture that’s long overdue.”

The star-studded guest list

It’s not a Met Gala without its iconic co-chairs and 2025’s list packs a punch. Joining Anna Wintour at the helm are music icon Pharrell Williams, Formula 1 legend Lewis Hamilton, actors Colman Domingo and A$AP Rocky, and basketball great LeBron James.
On the host committee? A stunning roll call of Black excellence: Simone Biles, Spike Lee, Doechii, Janelle Monáe, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Usher, Tyla, André 3000, Ayo Edebiri, and playwright Jeremy O.
