Shah Rukh Khan made a dazzling Met Gala debut in a Sabyasachi ensemble, embodying modern maharaja style and sparking a frenzy. The 2025 Met Gala, themed "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style," celebrates Black menswear and cultural richness. With a star-studded guest list and SRK leading the charge, the event promises to redefine global fashion.
He’s ruled the silver screen. He’s ruled our hearts. And now, Shah Rukh Khan has officially taken his rightful place on fashion’s most prestigious stage - the Met Gala. Making his grand debut this year, the Badshah of Bollywood turned the NYC streets into his personal red carpet as he stepped out in a black-on-black Sabyasachi creation that whispered royalty and roared rebellion.
Wearing a tailored black suit with Bengal royalty in its bones, SRK served cinematic charisma, accessorised with a heavy dose of swagger, think layered gold chains and that statement neckpiece featuring the letter 'K'. A nod to Khan, King, and everything in between. The moment he stepped out of his hotel, the NYC air changed. Fans screamed. Paparazzi froze. It wasn’t just a fashion moment, it was history in motion.
Earlier in the day, designer Sabyasachi had fuelled the fire, teasing Khan’s look with a cryptic Insta story: “Khan Khan Bengal Tiger.”
And when the tiger finally emerged? The internet gasped.
Fashion watchdog Diet Sabya summed it up best, declaring on Instagram:
"King Khan in all-black Sabyasachi, tiger sceptre in hand - very much giving modern maharaja core. It’s giving Shehenshah energy. The insane 'K' necklace? Not K-K-K-Kiran… K for King, obviously. Dripping in drama. Drenched in power. MAJORRRR, baby. MAJORRRRR."
And truly, nothing less would have done. After all, this wasn’t just about a red carpet walk—it was a coronation.
A Historic Met Gala for India
Shah Rukh's appearance is just the beginning of what’s shaping up to be India’s most glorious representation at the Met Gala. With the likes of Diljit Dosanjh, Kiara Advani, Priyanka Chopra, Isha Ambani, and Natasha Poonawalla all set to appear, Indian glamour has arrived and it's unapologetically loud, proud, and couture-clad.
The Theme: tailored, timely, and transformative
This year’s Met Gala isn’t just another fancy-dress parade. It's rooted in something much deeper, style as a statement.
Titled “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style”, the exhibition is inspired by Monica L. Miller’s groundbreaking book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity.
The 2025 dress code? “Tailored for You” an ode to bespoke fashion and the cultural richness of Black menswear through the ages. It’s also the first time in over two decades that the Met Gala has placed menswear centre stage.
The Costume Institute’s exhibition presents a powerful exploration of Black fashion history, from the 18th century to today, through the refined, rebellious lens of dandyism.
As Gala committee member Usher said, “This theme is not only timely, it’s a celebration of culture that’s long overdue.”
The star-studded guest list
It’s not a Met Gala without its iconic co-chairs and 2025’s list packs a punch. Joining Anna Wintour at the helm are music icon Pharrell Williams, Formula 1 legend Lewis Hamilton, actors Colman Domingo and A$AP Rocky, and basketball great LeBron James.
On the host committee? A stunning roll call of Black excellence: Simone Biles, Spike Lee, Doechii, Janelle Monáe, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Usher, Tyla, André 3000, Ayo Edebiri, and playwright Jeremy O.

SRK just turned the Met into Mannat
In a world where every look is dissected, every outfit is a meme in waiting, and every celebrity moment is fleeting - Shah Rukh Khan reminded us what true star power feels like. No gimmicks. No overkill. Just timeless elegance, cultural pride, and that rare energy only he can bring.
With the Met Gala 2025 being held once again inside the hallowed halls of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, this year’s event isn't just about tailoring, it’s about rewriting the fabric of global fashion.
And with SRK leading the charge in full Shehenshah mode, one thing is certain: fashion will never be the same again.
