MUMBAI: Shreyas Iyer is set to be back for Mumbai's next Ranji Trophy match, against Odisha at the

MCA ground

in

BKC

from November 6.
Afflicted by a shoulder injury, Iyer had requested the

Mumbai Cricket Association

for a break from Mumbai's last Ranji Trophy match against Tripura at Agartala, which ended in a draw.
The rest of the squad stays the same, which means that opener Prithvi Shaw, currently following a programme by the

MCA

to improve his fitness, continues to stay out.
With one win, one defeat and one draw, Mumbai, with nine points in their kitty after three matches, stand at the fourth position in Elite Group A.

The 29-year-old Iyer had undergone shoulder surgery in April 2021 to treat a partially dislocated left shoulder, an injury which forced him to miss the second of the IPL and the T20 World Cup later that year.
Iyer had spent a considerable time out of the game due to a back injury for which he had to ultimately undergo a back surgery in London. He played in both the Asia Cup and the World Cup, but lost his spot in the Indian team in both the Test and T20 formats.
Having suffered from serious injuries to his shoulder and back that required surgeries, Iyer had said that he has now become "smart" in terms of managing his body as a cricketer.
