, and he nearly became the first to score three but missed it by an agonizing seven runs on December 4, 2009, against Sri Lanka in Mumbai.
It was a typical fearless Sehwag knock that produced 293 runs off just 254 balls as he sent the Lankan bowlers to the cleaners, hitting 40 fours and 7 sixes; but fell short of creating a world record.

Sehwag's knock powered India to a mammoth 726 for 9 declared in their first innings, in reply to Sri Lanka's 393. Besides Sehwag, captain MS Dhoni (100) also scored a century, while opener Murali Vijay made 87, Rahuld Dravid 74, VVS Laxman 62 and Sachin Tendulkar 53.
