The project has been facing a lot of setbacks lately as the OG actor from the franchise, Paresh Rawal, announced his exit from the third film.
‘Baburao’s exit causes shock amongst fans; actor talks about exit
In a recent announcement, Paresh Rawal officially announced that he will no longer be a part of the latest instalment in the ‘Hera Pheri’ franchise. The actor publicly confirmed the news in a statement to Mid-Day, where the actor shared that “I know it came as a shock to many. We three make a great combination with Priyadarshanji directing us, but the fact is that I opted out because today I don’t feel like a part of it. It is final for the time being.
I always say never say never for anything. One cannot predict what happens in the future.”He also added, “There were no creative differences, nor is there a possibility of having any with him. No amount of money compares to the love and respect of my audience. Right now, I just feel it is a role that I don’t want to do, that’s all.”The actor was all set to reprise the role of his popular and quirky role of ‘Baburao Ganpatrao Apte’ in the third instalment, which is also seeing the return of director Priyadarshan, who was part of the first film but was not involved during the second project.
Paresh Rawal addresses rumours of ‘creative differences’
Rumours had also been circulating regarding Rawal’s exit from the film. Many netizens had taken to online social media platforms to speculate whether the decision came due to the fact that Paresh Rawal and director Priyadarshan may have had ‘creative differences’. The actor then took to his personal account on a popular social media platform to dismiss all rumours regarding the matter. In a post online he stated that “I wish to put it on record that my decision to step away from Hera Pheri 3 was not due to creative differences.”He continued in his post online that “I REITERATE THAT THERE ARE NO CREATIVE DISAGREEMENTS WITH THE FILMMAKER. I hold immense love, respect, and faith in Priyadarshan, the film’s director.”
Controversy continues as Akshay Kumar sues Paresh Rawal after announcement
Paresh Rawal’s exit from the third instalment of the franchise has not at all been smooth. The actor, after announcing his exit, is facing a lawsuit as fellow star Akshay Kumar, who played the role of Raju on the sets of ‘Hera Pheri’, is suing him.According to a report by Hindustan Times, the actor, who also became the producer of the latest film and directly bought the films’ rights from Firoz Nadiadwala, has sued Rawal for ₹25 crore. He allegedly sent a notice to Paresh Rawal regarding the lawsuit and for “abandoning and sabotaging” the project with his exit.Director Priyadarshan also explained and justified Akshay’s legal actions, sharing that "I don't know why this happened because Paresh didn't inform us.
Before starting the film, Akshay asked me to check with both Paresh and Suniel, and I did, and both were on board. I don't have anything to lose, but Akshay has invested money, and that could be the reason why he is taking this action. Paresh Rawal hasn't spoken to me to date.

Director Priyadarshan left hurt, “I have no idea what happened”
During an interview with the Bombay Times, returning director Priyadarshan shared how he was unaware of the proper reason as to why Paresh Rawal made the decision to exit the new instalment of the ‘Hera Pheri’ franchise so suddenly.
He shared that ““I have no idea what happened. His exit is actually a shock for me. All I will tell you is I am hurt. I started it (the third part), and all of a sudden, he backed out. He hasn't given me any explanation.
I am hurt.”The director also shared how Paresh Rawal was “like family” and how no reason or explanation was provided from the actor’s side. He shared that “Paresh was like a family, and he did not give me any explanation as to why he had done it.
So, without getting his explanation, he says that he has nothing against me, and he respects me, and there are no creative differences. But I am really hurt. I don't know what the conspiracy behind it is.

Suniel Shetty also reacts to Rawal’s exit
Suniel Shetty also expressed his shock at Rawal’s exit. The actor and producer shared with India Today that he got to know about the exit from his children. He also added that “I have no clue about this. This is absolutely shocking. I have had no word about it with anybody as to what happened. We are in the middle of this film, and this is the biggest shock. We were going to begin shooting next year. We had already started, in fact.
We shot a promo. It's a big thing. This is so shocking. I can't make sense of this.”
