Taylor Swift hit the headlines once again after reports state that one of her security guards quit his job to head back home to Israel to join the country's fight against Hamas.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the bodyguard Eran Swisa, elected to leave the United States after Hamas' terror attack on Israel killed at least 1,400 people. In a quote to the news agency, the bodyguard began by saying, "I got a pretty great life back in the U.S.
I got an amazing dream job that I love, great friends that I call family and a very comfortable home."
He went on to add, "I didn't HAVE to come here... But I could not stand on the sidelines while families are being slaughtered and burned alive in their homes!!! Just for being Jewish or for being Israelis... While one side is protecting babies, kids and the elderly, the other side is using those as human shields!!! It'll be an insult to animals worldwide to call them 'animals' but those are not human beings."
Encouraging others to stand by Israel, he added, "Don't stand on the sidelines and say nothing... Stand with Israel, stand with HUMANITY!!!!! Don't be on the wrong side of history!!"
Unconfirmed posts stated that the man earned over $500,000 being a bodyguard, which he turned his back on, to defend his country.
However, shortly after the news went viral, the State of Israel confirmed via their official social media handles that one of the superstar's Eras Tour bodyguards, who earlier earned global popularity in videos guarding the singer, has returned to join the IDF reserves.
The State of Israel tagged Swift in the post and said, "Hey @taylorswift, we promise you'll never find another like him..Taylor Swift's #ErasTour bodyguard returned home to fight for his country."
However, according to fans of Swift, the man was not her bodyguard, but rather, a part of the security team at the stadium she was performing at. Angry fans took to their handles to slam the Israel government's handle for posting allegedly 'fake' news. "This is not true. He's not her bodyguard & that doesn't even look like the same… this is unacceptable," wrote a fan.
Another commented, "The guy is NOT Taylor’s security guards he worked for the stadium."
Some others argued that the men in the pictures were not even the same people, fuelling the debate on misinformation on the
Israel vs Hamas
conflict.
The Pop superstar has been touring the USA, as part of her ongoing 'The Eras Tour'. At one of her performances, Eran gained popularity for his laser-point surveillance as he escorted the singer from the stage to her room after the gig.
Swift has been criticized by some for staying silent amid the Israel-Hamas war while promoting her blockbuster The Eras Tour movie, which was released on October 13.
