‘It will be the best in the world’

Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming film Ramayana, featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash in the lead roles, is generating significant excitement among audiences. Recently, a video of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis went viral in which he praised the film’s impressive production values.
Devendra Fadnavis Expresses Admiration
At the ongoing Waves Summit 2025 in Mumbai, Devendra Fadnavis spoke with writer-producer Namit Malhotra and expressed his admiration for the project. He said, "I think, as you rightly said, we are the world’s oldest storytellers. Our art, drama, and music are ancient, and we only wanted to couple them with the latest technology — and I think that’s exactly what you are doing. So, yesterday, when I visited your pavilion with the Prime Minister, I was amazed to see the quality of Ramayana that you are creating. I believe this is the way we need to tell our stories to the new generation, and I am confident that what you are setting up will be the best in the world."
Star-Studded Cast and Release Plans

Ramayana features a stellar cast, with Sai Pallavi portraying Sita, Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, and Yash taking on the role of Ravana. The film also includes notable performances by Sunny Deol, Ravi Dubey, and Lara Dutta. This epic saga is scheduled to be released in two parts — the first is set to hit cinemas during Diwali 2026, with the second instalment following in 2027.
Producer Namit Malhotra’s Vision for Indian Storytelling
In an interview with the Hindustan Times, Ramayana’s producer Namit Malhotra expressed his ambition to elevate Indian storytelling to a global platform. He emphasised his desire not only to make India proud but also to inspire and engage audiences around the world by celebrating global cinema collectively. Malhotra acknowledged the universal appeal of films like Oppenheimer and Forrest Gump, and believes that Ramayana carries the same timeless resonance. He considers this project a rare and fortunate opportunity and is determined to deliver a film that fulfils its true potential.
