, with husband Ranveer Singh in September 2024, has now opened up about the challenges she faced during pregnancy and delivery. In a heartfelt chat with Marie Claire, Deepika reflected on her motherhood journey and how her life has transformed since embracing this new role.Deepika Padukone's complicated pregnancy journeyDeepika revealed that her pregnancy wasn’t easy. “I went through a lot in the eight, nine months of being pregnant,” she said, admitting that while Dua’s birth feels recent, the emotional and physical toll of those months was significant.The actress recalled how her desire to become a mother was deeply rooted in her childhood. “Ever since my sister Anisha was born, my maternal instincts kicked in. Nurturing and protecting come to me very naturally,” she shared, adding that she didn’t face societal pressure to have a baby, it was more about the right time.

Deepika also praised Ranveer Singh for his unwavering support and progressive mindset. She said, “He was like, ‘It’s your body. Yes, it’s a together decision, but eventually it’s your body that’s going to go through it. So whenever you feel ready.’”Balancing work and motherhoodMotherhood, however, has brought a shift in Deepika’s work-life balance. Currently on maternity leave, the actress admitted to dealing with moments of mom guilt. “I do have to tell myself that your life doesn’t end the minute you have a child. You need to get back to your life, or at least a part of it. But every moment where I’m not able to be with her, there is guilt.”

Deepika Begins a New Chapter in Motherhood

As for how she’s adjusting to motherhood, Deepika said she’s still finding her new self. “I wouldn’t say I’m lost, but I wouldn’t say I’ve found [my new identity] either. I feel like I’m navigating it.”Deepika is set to return to work soon, with filming for the sequel of Kalki 2898 AD on the horizon.
