NEW DELHI: Amid jeers and boos from the crowd after his dismissal, star India batter Virat Kohli briefly confronting the fans became a hot talking point in Melbourne on Friday.
After getting out late on Day 2 of the Boxing Day Test, as Kohli entered the tunnel to the dressing room, spectators in that area made comments which prompted the 36-year-old to turn back for a brief face-off.
Soon after the incident blew up on social media, India pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah's wife
Sanjana Ganesan
called out on the disrespectful behaviour from the fans, extending support to Kohli.
In the 22-second Kohli confrontation video, something was said by the crowd, which is not clearly audible, prompting Kohli to turn back.
The 36-year-old clearly appeared displeased as he looked towards the stands before security personnel escorted him back towards the dressing room.
Kohli's behavior has drawn attention during the fourth Test. On the opening day, he shoulder-charged 19-year-old debutant Sam Konstas, resulting in a fine and a demerit point.
Kohli scored 36 runs before being caught behind off Scott Boland's bowling late in the final session on the second day.

His dismissal followed a mix-up with fellow opener Yashasvi Jaiswal that led to Jaiswal being run out for 82.
Kohli's confrontation with Konstas on Thursday was criticized by former Indian players who deemed it 'unnecessary'.
