Actors Ishaan Khatter and Bhumi Pednekar are set to share the screen for the first time in the OTT series 'The Royals', which will start premiering on May 9. The duo recently spoke about their on-screen chemistry and the trolling they've faced.
In a conversation with Hindustan Times ahead of the show's release,
Bhumi
and Ishaan opened up about their collaborative process and initial impressions of each other. Bhumi shared that they took time to build a connection before filming. She admitted that they did not know each other beforehand, as this is their first project together.
Bhumi Pednekar Chooses 'The Royals'
Ishaan described it as a delightful experience to share the screen with an actress like Bhumi. “I don't think either of us has had the chance to do something like this in our careers yet. We've got eight episodes to flesh it out. The fun part is that it wasn’t just all lovey-dovey. There was a cat-and-dog dynamic, with all the spewing of hate and egos coming in,” he revealed about the role.
Bhumi responded to the
online trolling
regarding the casting and their looks, saying, “Today, trolling has become people’s pastime. It doesn’t matter, though.”
Ishaan added, “It was a choice between not doing this if we paid attention to it, or just going ahead. And since we loved the script so much, everything else didn’t matter.”
'The Royals' also features Sakshi Tanwar, Zeenat Aman, Nora Fatehi, Vihaan Samat, Dino Morea, Milind Soman, Chunky Panday, Lisa Mishra, Kavya Trehan, Udit Arora, and Sumukhi Suresh in key roles.
On the work front, Bhumi was last seen in 'Mere Husband Ki Biwi' with Arjun Kapoor and Rakul Preet Singh. Meanwhile, Ishaan made his acting debut as a lead actor in Beyond the Clouds. 'Vaah! Life Ho Toh Aisi!' was his first film as a child artist.
