Bangladesh drop Litton Das for third Sri Lanka ODI

6 months ago 1028

NEW DELHI:

Bangladesh

have made a significant change for Monday's third and final one-day international against

Sri Lanka

, opting to drop

Litton Das

following his consecutive ducks in the first two matches, which were deemed humiliating.
In his place, the team has decided to debut

Jaker Ali

, who showcased a commendable performance during the T20 leg of Sri Lanka's tour, ultimately won by the visiting team with a 2-1 margin.

Das faced challenges not only in the one-day matches but also in the preceding T20 series, where he managed to accumulate just 44 runs across three matches.
Consequently, the team management has opted for a fresh approach, hoping for a more impactful contribution from Ali in the crucial upcoming encounter.

"Considering Litton's recent performance in white-ball cricket, we opted for this change, mindful of the availability of two other capable openers within the squad," chief selector Gazi Ashraf Hossain said in a statement.
"With the series now hanging in the balance, we believe Jaker Ali's addition will provide the team with more options and flexibility in the middle order," he added.
Jaker, 26, has averaged 55 in his six T20 appearances for Bangladesh.

The ODI series is tied 1-1 after Bangladesh won the opener by six wickets, with Sri Lanka taking the second by three wickets on Friday.
Chittagong

hosts the final match on Monday.
Bangladesh squad: Najmul Hossain Shanto (capt), Anamul Haque, Soumya Sarkar, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Mushfiqur Rahim, Tawhid Hridoy, Mahmudullah Riyad, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taijul Islam, Rishad Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Mustafizur Rahman, Jaker Ali.
