Ananya Panday, the Indian actress, was seen mourning and weeping following the demise of her best friend, Shanaya Kapoor’s grandmother, Nirmal Kapoor, on Friday, May 2, 2025. While paying respects, Panday was visibly sombre and heartbroken, along with other family members and B-Town celebrities.

According to the video shared by Filmygyan on their social media handle, Ananya Panday, in an ethnic white kurti, was wiping her tears with tissues and went to a different place to avoid interaction with the media. Along with the actress Ananya Panday, Vedang Raina was also spotted in a light blue shirt and black trousers to pay homage to Nirmal Kapoor.
Shikhar Pahariya and his brother, Veer Pahariya, were spotted consoling the actress and lending a shoulder in the vulnerable time. Other celebrities, including Jackie Shroff, Javed Akhtar, Rani Mukerji, and Anupam Kher, also visited to pay respects, according to Hindustan Times.
At the Kapoors' residence
The family was seen preparing for the final rites, where Anil Kapoor was leading the ambulance along with his nephew, Arjun Kapoor, according to India Forums. The celebrities visited the family at their residence to pay condolences for the demise of the mother of Producer Boney Kapoor, Actor Anil Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor.

Last night, the family shared an official statement upon the passing of the beloved member of the family. “Passed away peacefully on the 2nd of May, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family. She lived a full and joyful life, leaving behind four devoted children, loving daughters-in-law, a caring son-in-law, eleven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a lifetime of treasured memories."
