How to deal with toxic people
Life is full of different kinds of people; and while many pretend to be our well-wisher, in their heart they aren't. Be it at work or in our personal life, most people encounter with toxic people at various places. But, how does one deal with them without getting too bothered by them? Here we share some tips for it:

2/6
Set clear boundaries
Toxic people often try to manipulate or overstep other people's personal boundaries. To protect your emotional well-being and mental peace, set clear limits with such people-- decide how much time and energy you would want invest in them. Politely but firmly communicate their behaviour which you will not tolerate. If someone constantly drains your energy or makes you feel anxious, limit interactions and create distance with them if needed.

3/6
Don’t encourage their drama and bad behaviour
Toxic people thrive on conflict and negativity, and so they often throw tantrums to stay in the spotlight. They would also often provoke emotional reactions from others to draw you into unnecessary drama. The best way to deal them? Just stay calm and refuse to participate in their toxic cycles. Remember to react less, and respond more.

4/6
Prioritise your mental health
Toxic people have a tendency to pull people down with their drama and negativity. But remember that there's nothing more important than your mental peace. If the presence of toxic people affects your mental health, then don't hesistate to maintain your distance rom them when needed. Also, prioritise your mental health and self-care to stay positive in life.

5/6
Be assertive, not aggressive
Toxic people can take advantage of one's agressive behaviour. The key to deal with them is to be assertive— express your thoughts and feelings clearly, confidently, and respectfully. Use “I” statements to communicate your needs, instead of blaming them.

6/6
Know when to walk away, if needed
In some extreme cases, it is better to simply cut-off toxic people when they refuse to change their bad behaviour and keep affecting your mental peace. If someone repeatedly disrespects or harms you emotionally, it may be time to walk away.
